MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - The city of Mason City has announced five finalists to fill the role of police chief after current Chief Mike Lashbrook announced his plans to retire at the end of the year.

The Globe Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1LfsIkm ) that the finalists are Jeff Brinkley, a patrol division lieutenant with the Ames Police Department; H.C. “Skip” Clark, former police chief in Peachtree, Georgia; Peter Ketchum, chief investigator lieutenant with the Franklin, Indiana, Police Department; Mike McKelvey, a captain with Mason City Police Department; and Timothy Sittig, former police chief in Pleasant Hill.

Residents will get the chance to meet the finalists and their spouses during an open house Monday evening at City Hall.

City officials expect to name a new chief in early December.
