McALESTER, Okla. (AP) - The McAlester school board has called a special meeting to discuss suspending and starting proceedings to fire the school superintendent and her husband - who is the district plant operations director.

The McAlester News-Capital reports (https://bit.ly/1SPZ23A ) that the board will meet Monday night to discuss the employment of Superintendent Marsha Gore and of Joseph “Skip” Gore.

A published phone number for the Gores could not be found Saturday.

The special meeting comes after the school board named board member Mike Sossamon and board attorney Bill Ervin to investigate complaints about the conduct of district employees concerning finances and personnel matters.

The newspaper has reported extensively on the district’s finances and on spending by the Gores, and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says it’s investigating an unidentified school employee.
