PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island Sen. Jack Reed says the “civilized, free world” is standing with France following the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris and must not bend to fear and intimidation.

Ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Reed said facts on the scope of Friday’s coordinated attacks are still being collected. But he said it’s certain the U.S. is resolved to “support our friends and allies and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

Reed said “we must remain vigilant in the face of evolving threats.”

At least 127 people died in Friday night’s gun-and-bombing rampages in Paris.

Rhode Island State Police said there was nothing to report regarding any stepped-up security measures following the attacks.

Gov. Gina Raimondo issued a message on Twitter, sending “thoughts and prayers to all those impacted.”
