DETROIT (AP) - The victims of a weekend crash that killed four people and injured another were current or former students at a Detroit high school.

Police say the Jeep Cherokee hit a concrete post and caught fire around 12:45 a.m. Sunday on Detroit’s east side. Witnesses tried to rescue people inside.

The Detroit school district tells the Detroit Free Press that three victims were current students at Osborn High School and two were former students. No names were released.

Police say high speed was a factor in the crash.

Counselors were at Osborn High to talk to students and staff Monday. Balloons and candles were placed at the scene of the crash.
