NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - A 19-year-old Lexington man has been convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 14-year-old Moore girl.

Cleveland County jurors deliberated for about nine hours before returning a guilty verdict for Cody Delano in the death of Railena Rhodes.

The Oklahoman reports (https://bit.ly/1Pxv99H ) that the jury recommended Delano serve life in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 16.

Jurors convicted Delano of using a rifle to fire five or six shots, one of which struck and killed Rhodes.

Witnesses say Delano had been with friends at a residential party when he got into a fight with another man and was chased out of the house.

Prosecutors say Delano was angry and returned to the house with guns.

Delano’s defense attorneys argued that Delano’s friends took his car and guns and shot into the house.
