ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Gov. Mark Dayton says Minnesota’s taxpayers can be better served if there are more people of color managing state agencies.

Dayton wants to diversify the management jobs held by about 1,000 people in state government. Nearly nine in 10 management jobs are currently held by white employees.

Just two of Dayton’s 24 cabinet members are minorities.

Department of Human Rights Commissioner Kevin Lindsey tells the Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/1Q1UEQp ) senior leaders must expand professional networks and engage diverse community groups when developing policy.
