Seven Springs Mountain Resort to try uphill skiing policies

CHAMPION, Pa. (AP) - Seven Springs Mountain Resort plans to offer uphill skiing for the first time.

Some skiers have begun using traction devices known as skins that enable them to ski uphill, and avoid paying lift ticket fees.

So the (Somerset) Daily American (https://bit.ly/1Hn1Gaa) says the resort about 55 miles southeast of Pittsburgh plans to accommodate uphill skiers.

Skiers will now be charged for using the resort’s slopes, whether or not they use the lifts. Uphill skiing will be offered from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. daily, and will require skiers to buy a pass to do it.

Spokeswoman Katie Buchan (BOO’-chan) says Seven Springs believes it’s the first resort to offer uphill skiing in Pennsylvania. Uphill skiing won’t be offered at Hidden Valley, a sister resort, until the owners see how things work out at Seven Springs.
