PHOENIX (AP) - Firefighters say one person is dead and another has been injured in a two-car crash in Phoenix.

KNXV-TV in Phoenix (https://bit.ly/1Mwhdco) says the crash happened around noon Sunday near 31st Avenue and Southern.

Fire officials say two cars crashed and then a fire started between the vehicles.

They say one person was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Her condition was not known.

The area will likely be closed for a few hours as Phoenix police investigate.
