BOLIVIA, N.C. (AP) - Two North Carolina men have been charged with stealing numerous Venus flytraps in the eastern part of the state.

The StarNews in Wilmington (https://goo.gl/KNu8Y0 ) reports that the two men from the town of Bolivia were charged Saturday with felony counts of taking the protected carnivorous plants along with trespassing.

Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office investigators said in arrest warrants that the two men poached more than 1,000 Venus flytraps from Orton Plantation south of Wilmington.

A news release said that the men were arrested after a search of their backpacks.
