GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - Joel Awich scored 18 points, Ridge Shipley added 15 on five 3-pointers, and Cal Poly beat the University of Maryland, Baltimore County 78-65 on Sunday.

Taylor Sutlive added 11 points and David Nwaba contributed a career-high eight assists. The Mustangs (3-2) used 20 assists in scoring 29 field goals on 50 percent shooting and shot 56 percent from long distance.

Cal Poly made 15 3-pointers, with four by Awich and three from Sutlive.

Cal Poly built on a 34-27 halftime lead with Sutlive, Shipley and Awich each sinking 3-pointers amid an 11-4 run. Shipley hit back-to-back 3s to spark an 11-3 run for a 51-36 lead and the Mustangs led by double digits the final 3:28.

Joe Sherburne led the Retrievers (1-4) with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting with three 3-pointers. Rodney Elliott scored 13 points with five assists and Cody Joyce had 11 points.
