HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - Twymond Howard made a go-ahead 3-pointer with 3.1 seconds remaining to help UT Martin beat James Madison 78-75 on Sunday.

It was Howard’s first 3 of the season after missing his previous seven.

The game was tied three different times in the final three minutes. UT Martin’s Jacolby Mobley made a layup to knot it at 71 and, after a James Madison miss, Myles Taylor hit a shot for a two-point lead.

Later, Ron Curry made a shot and was fouled, but missed the free throw with 21 seconds left. After Howard heroics, Joey McLean’s half-court 3-pointer was off the mark.

Mobley led UT Martin (1-4) with 16 points and Chandler Rowe had 14. Howard finished with five points on 2-of-8 shooting. The Skyhawks made 54.5 percent of their shots, including 12 of 27 3-pointers.

Curry scored 21 points for James Madison (2-3), which made 11 of 30 shots beyond the arc.
