COLBERT, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is reviewing a Colbert police officer’s fatal shooting of a man this weekend.

The OSBI said Sunday that the police department requested the investigation.

Police say an officer stopped to talk to a Bryan County man who was walking in town Saturday night. The officer found that the man had several traffic warrants for his arrest, and as the officer attempted to take the man into custody, police say the man ran from the officer.

Police say a struggle broke out, with the man allegedly on top of the officer hitting him in the face.

The OSBI says the officer drew his gun and fired, hitting the man an unknown number of times.

The OSBI said Sunday it wouldn’t release the officer’s name.
