NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say one pedestrian was killed in an early morning car wreck in New Castle.

Police say the wreck occurred at about 1:45 a.m. on Sunday when 30-year-old Kawana Perry, who had just gotten out of a car and was walking southbound on Interstate 495, was struck by a Hyundai Elantra traveling southbound in the left lane. Perry was thrown onto the left shoulder of the road and taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Hyundai was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured in the wreck.
