MERIDEN, Conn. (AP) - Police say a teenager has died after the car he was driving crashed near a cemetery in Meriden.

Police have identified the driver as Hector Sanchez, of Meriden.

Police say the 19-year-old left the roadway and crashed near the Walnut Grove Cemetery around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Sanchez was trapped in the car, which hit several trees and split in half. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Sanchez was traveling alone.

Police didn’t specify the cause of the crash.

Old Colony Road was closed so authorities could investigate.

It has since been reopened.
