INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The power is coming back on for some northern Indiana residents after the first winter storm of the season.

Indiana Michigan Power Co. reports about 1,800 of its Indiana customers had no power as of 2:30 p.m. EST Sunday. That includes more than 1,500 in the South Bend area, where the National Weather Service reports nearly 9 inches of snow have fallen.

Other snowfall totals include 8½ inches near Angola in the northeast corner of the state and 5 inches in Kokomo.

The storm contributed to a traffic death about 2 p.m. Saturday on Indiana 28 near Muncie. Delaware County Sheriff Ray Dudley says 17-year-old Allie Marie McKim of Modoc died after being thrown from a car that crossed left of center and struck a bucket truck in slushy conditions.
