MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota Timberwolves coach Sam Mitchell is inserting Kevin Martin into the starting lineup in hopes of jumpstarting a struggling offense.

Mitchell announced the decision at practice Sunday. Martin will replace Tayshaun Prince in the first five and Andrew Wiggins will slide from shooting guard to small forward.

Prince started the first 13 games while Mitchell looked to instill a defensive mindset within a young core. But he was averaging just 3.2 points per game.

While not the defensive player Prince is, Martin is far more accomplished as a scorer and shooter. But he is shooting just 26 percent over his last five games, including 1 for 10 on 3-pointers.

Mitchell hopes moving Martin into the starting lineup will help get him going.
