MACON, Ga. (AP) - In what Macon-Bibb County Animal Welfare suspects is a result of dog fighting, four dead dogs have been found at a Macon home, possibly killed by cold weather or starvation.

Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare interim director Sonja Adams tells WMAZ-TV (https://on.wmaz.com/1OlZNjc) the dogs were discovered Sunday morning. She says officials also found two alive but emaciated dogs - one inside, one outside.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Linda Howard says law enforcement received an anonymous report of a foul smell coming from the house. She says officers found five dogs chained up behind the home, and that all animals showed signs of injuries consistent with dog fighting.

Howard says there is no suspect in custody yet. Necropsies will be performed on the dogs to find out how they died.
