GRANVILLE, N.D. (AP) - The North Dakota Highway Patrol say the driver of a semitrailer has been hospitalized after he failed to yield at a railroad crossing and was struck by an Amtrak passenger train.

Authorities didn’t immediately release the condition of the 58-year-old Minot man, who was driving the truck that collided with the train about 1 p.m. Monday east of Granville.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says neither passengers nor crew members aboard the Empire Builder train headed west from Rugby to Minot suffered serious injuries.

The truck’s cab and the trailer split, coming to rest on different sides of the tracks.

Magliari says both locomotives received some damage, but the train will continue its trip to Minot, where the railway will make some adjustments to continue the trip further west.
