BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say a 16-year-old high school student and 9-year-old girl were injured after being struck by a car in Brockton.

The Enterprise reports (https://bit.ly/1T9cZK9 ) the girls were hit while trying to cross the street around 5 p.m. Sunday in front of an elementary school.

Authorities say the Brockton High School student suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Boston hospital with head trauma.

The 9-year-old girl was taken to a Brockton hospital with minor injuries. It wasn’t immediately known Sunday night what their conditions are.
