ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The state Office of General Services is getting the ice rink at Albany’s Empire State Plaza ready to open for the season.

The rink is set to formally open on Friday, Dec. 4. The attraction across the street from the Capitol in downtown Albany will be open seven days a week 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Skating is free.

Skate rentals are free on Fridays, courtesy of Hannaford Supermarkets. There will also be a series of learn-to-skate clinics sponsored by BlueShield of Northeastern New York.

The state holiday tree lighting on Dec. 6 will feature an afternoon of events including skating, fireworks and live music.
