DENVER (AP) - An inmate who was involved in what investigators have only said was an incident at the downtown Denver jail has died.

Attorney Mari Newman tells The Denver Post (https://goo.gl/8e1nTj ) that 50-year-old Michael Marshall was removed from life support Friday. Investigators have released few details, other than the man was involved in an incident in a sally port outside the jail pod where he was housed Nov. 11.

Marshall, who was arrested Nov. 5 for trespassing and disturbing the peace, was hospitalized in critical condition.

Strangers and those who best knew him gathered in front of the jail Saturday to demand to know what happened in the sally port.

A statement from the sheriff’s department says the office is “committed to a thorough investigation, and transparency into what occurred.”
