TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Longtime New Jersey 101.5 morning show host Jim Gearhart is leaving the show after suffering an injury following 25 years on the air.

Townsquare Media New Jersey said Monday that Gearhart is unable to return while continuing to recover from the injury and will be replaced by Bill Spadea.

Spadea has done a daily feature on the show and been a fill-in host since 2014.

Gearhart was inducted into the New Jersey Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame in 2013. He has also been on air in New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Seattle over a more than 50-year career.

Spadea says he has looked up to Gearhart as a legend and that he will try his best to live up to his legacy.
