HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (AP) - Suffolk County Police say an armed man wearing a mask robbed a Pier 1 Imports store on Long Island while customers were present.

The robbery happened around 7 p.m. Sunday when a man with a handgun entered the store and forced employees and customers to the rear. Authorities say after restraining them, he forced an employee to open the safe. An unspecified amount of cash was taken.

Police say the robbery at the Huntington Station home decor store is similar to robberies that have occurred since September at four clothing stores in Suffolk County and also in Nassau County.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest.
