HORICON, N.Y. (AP) - Forest rangers and volunteers continue the search for an 82-year-old upstate New York man last seen hunting in the Adirondack Mountains more than a month ago.

The Albany Times-Union reports (https://bit.ly/1MME3Ky ) the number of searchers looking for Thomas Messick of Troy peaked over the weekend, with 189 volunteers arriving Saturday and 86 assisting Sunday.

Messick failed to meet up with his hunting group on Oct. 15 in the Warren County town of Horicon.

Searches have failed to turn up any sign of Messick, an Army veteran and experienced hunter who once served as a hunter safety instructor. Searchers have been told that Messick has poor vision and hearing, and a history of cardiac issues.

Rangers say the search will continue until he is found.
