SMITHTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a woman has been charged with DWI following a two-car accident on Long Island.

Suffolk County police say Amanda Dellegar, of Hauppauge, was arrested after the accident, which occurred in Smithtown around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

They say the driver of the other car was pinned inside and had to be extricated. Police identified him as a 52-year-old Michael Maxwell, a Suffolk County district attorney investigator. He was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 20-year-old Dellegar also was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. It wasn’t immediately clear if she had a lawyer who could comment on the charges.

The accident happened near Route 347 and Mount Pleasant Road.
