TESTIMONY WRAPPING UP IN TRIAL OF MAN CLAIMING SELF-DEFENSE IN FACEBOOK PHOTO KILLING

Circuit Judge Yvonne Colodny says she hopes the trial of Derek Medina will end before Thanksgiving. Final defense witnesses were scheduled to testify Tuesday, tentatively followed by closing arguments.

MAN, GIRL SERIOUSLY INJURED WHEN ATV OVERTURNS

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 39-year-old Benjamin Tompkins was driving an ATV Saturday on private property in Gilchrist County. The ATV overturned, ejecting Tompkins and the girl. They were both taken to a Gainesville hospital. Tompkins was in serious condition and the girl was in critical.

MAN CHARGED IN DRUNKEN DRIVING CRASH, 3 CHILDREN IN VEHICLE

Kenneth Mote got into a crash Saturday evening. Ormond Beach police report that officers discovered three children, ages 14, 12 and 3, in the wrecked vehicle. Breath tests showed Mote’s blood alcohol level to be 0.204 and 0.206 percent.

FLORIDA MAN CHARGED IN SOUTH DAKOTA COLD CASE WANTS CHARGE DISMISSED

Lawyers for a southwest Florida man charged in the 1989 slaying of his girlfriend in South Dakota are asking a judge to dismiss the case. Authorities say 57-year-old Kim Aune was arrested in April and faces trial in January.

MIAMI AIRPORT CREATES PROGRAM TO HELP SPECIAL NEEDS TRAVELERS

Miami International Airport is offering passengers with special needs a program that lets them practice the check-in and security process before the day of their flight.
