SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a 76-year-old man has been found dead in his Simpsonville home with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police said in a statement that friends found the man’s body around 8:10 p.m. Monday. Paramedics say he was dead when they arrived.

The coroner’s office identified the victim as Donnie Pitts Taylor.

Anderson County Sheriff John Skipper says Taylor’s car was found at a motel and a suspect inside a room is refusing to come out. Deputies were negotiating with him Tuesday afternoon.
