ABERDEEN, Miss. (AP) - Former Aberdeen High School basketball coach Roy Hazzle accepted $15,000 to settle his discrimination lawsuit against the Aberdeen School District.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1QFHCIH) the parties began talking about a settlement and entered into negotiations during the late summer.

A motion filed in mid-September stipulated that the settlement was not an admission of liability by the schools or an admission that Hazzle suffered any damages.

According to the final judgment filed Monday in federal court in Aberdeen, the school district has paid Hazzle, each side is responsible for their own legal fees, and the lawsuit is vacated.

Hazzle accused the school district of discriminating against him because of both his race and his age, 60, when he was let go in summer 2013.
