ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - The search for a skier missing in Hatcher Pass since Sunday is being slowed after an avalanche.

Anchorage television station KTVA reports (https://is.gd/wq905g) the avalanche happened Tuesday morning and blocked Hatcher Pass Road beyond the Gold Mint parking lot.

Alaska State Troopers have asked the public to avoid the area until conditions can be assessed.

Troopers say the avalanche and adverse weather conditions are hampering efforts to locate 33-year-old Liam Walsh of Wasilla.

He told family and friend he was going to ski in the Hatcher Pass area Sunday. He didn’t return as planned. His car was found on Hatcher Pass Road, but he hasn’t been located.
