NORTON, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say a Norton man found dead in his home after a standoff with police last weekend died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Bristol district attorney’s office announced Tuesday that the medical examiner has determined that 48-year-old Kevin Murray shot himself during the standoff Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Police responded to the home after getting two 911 calls, including one from a woman who said her boyfriend was in the home and had access to weapons.

Officers asked a man in the house to raise his hands, but instead Murray fired several shots through the front door. One officer returned fire.

A short time later, police heard a single shot from inside the house. Murray was confirmed dead at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
