RUSH, Colo. (AP) - Firefighters are responding to a grass fire on the plains east of Colorado Springs.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Terry Frank says the fire was burning Tuesday in windy conditions near the town of Rush, about 40 miles east of Colorado Springs.

It’s not clear yet whether the fire has spread to any homes. The county says progress is being made fighting the fire but is still asking nearby residents to voluntarily evacuate.
