THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has been re-accredited for the 15th consecutive year.

The Daily Comet reports (https://bit.ly/21e0guQ) assessors examine its policies, procedures, management, operations and support services.

Sheriff Craig Webre said his agency is the first ever in the state to achieve Advanced Law Enforcement Accreditation with Excellence. The agency also received a Meritorious Award. The honors were given Saturday during the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies conference in Miami.

The sheriff’s office must meet 484 standards to be re-accredited, a process completed every three years. It initially involved assessors looking solely at the agency’s files, but this year, the sheriff’s office went by the Gold Standard, which is more in-depth.
