McALESTER, Okla. (AP) - The McAlester school board has extended the paid suspension of school Superintendent Marsha Gore and her husband - Plant Operations Manager Joseph Skip Gore - and to notify them of plans to fire them.

The McAlester News-Capital reports (https://bit.ly/1LxFPgL ) that the board voted Monday night to continue the suspensions without a time limit.

The board voted Nov. 16 to suspend the Gores and begin termination proceedings after board member Mike Sossamon and school board attorney Bill Ervin presented a report that says Marsha Gore “is for the most part” responsible for “a serious financial crisis” facing the district.

The Gores have denied the allegations.

Ervin said he will mail written notifications to the Gores and they will have 10 days after receiving the notices to request a public hearing.
