SANDY, Utah (AP) - Police say they are investigating a homicide after finding a man’s body with a gunshot wound inside a Utah apartment.

Sandy police say the body was discovered Monday afternoon by a landlord visiting the basement apartment to collect rent.

Sgt. Dean Carriger says the man appeared to be in his early 20s, but police weren’t sure Monday who he was or whether he lived in the apartment.

Carriger says police got a warrant to search the apartment Monday evening and decided there was enough information to consider the death a homicide.

An autopsy is scheduled Tuesday to determine the exact cause of death.
