BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A woman who police say dropped her unclothed baby was arrested after officials discovered drugs in her car.

News outlets report 31-year-old Christine Hussey was arrested Sunday outside a Baton Rouge gas station.

A Baton Rouge Police report states the baby was unclothed despite the cold weather. Police say an officer noticed bruising on the baby’s face and scratches on its face and legs.

Authorities later discovered drugs and paraphernalia inside the car Hussey occupied. They say she and another woman appeared to be on drugs.

Hussey was booked on counts including cruelty to a juvenile and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Her companion, Brittney Graco, was arrested on drug possession counts.

It isn’t clear if they have attorneys.

Police say the child was taken to a hospital.
