SAN DIEGO (AP) - Hundreds of people participated in a demonstration at San Diego State University after a report of a hate crime against a Muslim student.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1P4yxce ) that a campus police report says a white man in his 20s grabbed a female Muslim student’s headscarf in a campus parking lot Thursday and made racist comments.

University police Lt. Randy Lawrence said Monday that no suspect has been identified.

About 400 people attended Monday’s rally, chanting as they marched to the student union.

Several female Muslim students read a list of demands during the rally, including a call for the witnesses of Thursday’s events come forward.

The students also want increased coursework on Islam and a zero-tolerance policy against hateful speech or actions against Muslims and other groups.
