WARWICK, R.I. (AP) - Sales of single-family homes in Rhode Island rose 8 percent last month when compared to the year-ago month.

The Rhode Island Association of Realtors said Tuesday that the figures continue the healthiest housing market since the recession.

And even though median prices dropped 3 percent, there is no reason for concern. Realtors President Arthur Yatsko says median prices are higher than nearly every month last year and most homeowners have made solid gains in equity in 2015.

Sales also remained strong in the condominium market, with both the number of sales and the median sale price rising 9 percent from a year earlier.

Sales of multi-family properties decreased 6 percent from the prior year, but the median sales price increased by 6 percent.
