SALEM, Ore. (AP) - A Salem man has died in a Philippines jail after being arrested while on vacation.

The Statesman Journal reports (https://goo.gl/klmOTg ) that 51-year-old Mark Pikl was on vacation in Cebu City, Philippines, when he was arrested and later died.

Cebu City police say there was no foul play in Pikl’s death. An autopsy has not yet been conducted.

Cebu City media outlets have reported that Pikl was arrested Wednesday after “getting wild” near a hotel. After his arrest, he complained to police officers that he could not breathe. He died Thursday.

Brian Pikl said Monday the family is working with the State Department and the American Consular Agency to conduct an autopsy and return Pikl’s body to Oregon.
