DENTON, Texas (AP) - Darius Jones-Gibson scored 23 points, Wyatt Walker had 13 points with 11 rebounds, and Samford outlasted North Texas 74-72 Tuesday night.

Jones-Gibson’s jumper with 2:25 left put Samford (4-1) in front 68-66. The Mean Green pulled within one on Jeremy Combs’ free throw, but a layup from Walker and four Bulldogs free throws down the stretch put the game out of reach. Jones-Gibson made 12 of 15 free throws.

Combs had 18 points and nine rebounds for North Texas (2-2). He shot 12 of 16 from the free-throw line. J-Mychal Reese had 12 points, including a 3-pointer as time expired.

North Texas had a 15-0 run early in the second half to take a six-point lead, but the Bulldogs used free throws and a 3-pointer from Jones-Gibson to re-take the lead.

Two players, Jamal Shabazz and Matt Rose, fouled out for Samford.
