AMITE, La. (AP) - Tangipahoa Parish voters will decide on various property tax renewals in the April 9 election.

On Monday, the parish council agreed to place the tax renewal propositions on the ballot.

One of the propositions calls for renewing a 10-year property tax supporting the Parish Health Unit.

The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1HjX0Ym) three other propositions call for renewals of property taxes in rural lighting districts.

Also, voters in Tangipahoa Parish Rural Fire Protection District No. 2 will decide whether to renew a 10-year tax for equipment, maintenance and operations, and salaries.

The council made it official Monday that term limits will be applied to the parish president and council members starting Jan. 1. Voters on Oct. 24 approved the change to the parish charter to limit council members and the parish president to three, four-year terms.
