SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah authorities are investigating after five people were sickened by E. coli linked to chicken salad from Costco.

Utah Department of Health officials said Tuesday that people seven states have been affected. Two patients in Utah were hospitalized, though no one in the state has died.

Health officials say the people sickened range in age from 9 to 84 years old. Three are female and one is male.

Investigators are working to determine the source of the contamination in chicken salad purchased from various Costco stores in late October.

Consumers who bought chicken salad made with rotisserie chicken should discard it.

Other states with E. coli cases linked to the chicken salad include Colorado, Montana and Washington.
