LAUREL, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say they’re investigating the circumstances of a man shot in the head in central Iowa.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says it was dispatched early Wednesday to a home in Laurel, located about 60 miles northeast of Des Moines.

A 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head was taken to a local hospital than airlifted to a Des Moines trauma center. His current condition is unknown.

Three other adults were in the home at the time of the incident. Authorities say they are cooperating but additional information was not released.

Authorities say they have no reason to believe the public is in danger.
