KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) - Authorities arrested a man accused of eluding police after shooting at a Klamath County home.

Sheriff’s deputies and Oregon State Police responded Tuesday afternoon after getting a report that a man fired an “AK-47” and then left in a pickup.

According to state police, troopers spotted the pickup on Highway 97, but the driver wouldn’t pull over.

Troopers followed the pickup for several miles on Telephone Flat Road until it crashed. State police say the driver ran into the woods and was found hiding in the brush. A semi-automatic rifle was recovered from the crashed pickup.

Police say 27-year-old Stephen Sorensen of Chiloquin was jailed on charges of menacing, recklessly endangering, unlawful use of a weapon, attempting to elude and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

No one at the home was injured.
