Florida’s chances of making to the College Football Playoff. The Gators are 12th in the CFP rankings and need to beat Florida State and win the Southeastern Conference championship game next week to have a shot at cracking the top four.


Florida State RB Dalvin Cook vs Florida’s stout defense. The school’s single-season rushing leader, Cook has 1,475 yards on the ground and is averaging 147.5 yards a game. LSU’s Leonard Fournette gashed the Gators on the ground for 180 yards, so they see this as a chance at redemption.


Florida State: Junior CB Jalen Ramsey, who makes plays almost every week. He has 39 tackles, including two for loss, 10 pass breakups and a 36-yard scoop-and-score touchdown against Boston College.

Florida: Senior DT Jon Bullard, who has played through knee and arm injuries this season, has 53 tackles, including 13 ½ for loss, and 5 ½ sacks this season. He has started 23 consecutive games.


FSU is 4-1 against Florida, including 2-0 in Gainesville, under coach Jimbo Fisher. … Seminoles have never won three in a row at Florida Field. … FSU is 13-1 against in-state opponents under Fisher. … Seminoles are only team in the country that has not allowed an opponent to score 25 points. … Cook is the only player in the nation to rank in the top 10 in scoring, rushing touchdowns, rushing yards, all-purpose yards, rush yards per game and rush yards per carry. … Florida’s Jim McElwain became the first coach in school history to win 10 games in his first season. … Gators TE Jake McGee, who a graduate transfer from Virginia who was granted a sixth year of eligibility, will go through his third “senior day” ceremony before the game.
