UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) - An Upper Marlboro man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for fatally shooting another man during a fight outside a tennis club in Bowie.

Twenty-year-old Deon Warren was sentenced Wednesday in Prince George’s County district court, according to a news release from the State’s Attorney’s Office.

Warren pleaded guilty in July to second-degree murder in the slaying of 39-year-old Mitchell White.

Authorities say on Sept. 30, 2014, White’s son was involved in a fistfight outside the Belair Swim and Racquet Club. Prosecutors say when White tried to break up the fight, Warren produced a handgun, waved it around and then shot White.
