OCALA, Fla. (AP) - A missing central Florida couple and their infant son were found safe by authorities in South Carolina, authorities say.

In a news release, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said 25-year-old Robert Brown Jr., 25-year-old Brittney Wilson and their 4-month-old child Gabriel Brown were located by authorities in Myrtle Beach.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement had issued an alert on Saturday for the baby and said he could be in danger. Authorities said Brown and Wilson lost custody of the infant on Thursday when a judge transferred his care to the Department of Children and Families out of concern for the child’s safety.

The sheriff’s office said an anonymous tip Monday led Myrtle Beach officers to stop the couple when they were seen the next day walking down the street with the baby. The sheriff’s office says the child appears to be in good health.

“We could not have found this child without the help of our citizens and the other agencies involved,” Sheriff Chris Blair of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Authorities said DCF is arranging the child’s transportation back to Florida to remain in their custody.

The sheriff’s office says both Brown and Wilson have warrants out of the Ocala Police Department for burglary and criminal mischief.
