HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - A charitable group is distributing winter coats, scarves and hats across Huntington, attaching the gear on street fixtures for anyone to pick up.

The Herald-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1XpYan0 ) reports the group Team Toni has been leaving the winter gear in areas where people in need are likely to find them.

The nonprofit says more than 50 coats have been distributed since Monday night. Members of the group have also left notes on the coats reading, “If you need me, I am yours!”

Team organizers say they plan to expand the donations into Charleston and Portsmouth, Ohio.

The group was founded in 2011 in honor of Toni Black, a 23-year-old who succumbed to cancer and had a passion for helping the homeless, lonely and elderly.
