LAUREL, Del. (AP) - A traffic stop in Delaware has led to the arrest of a New York man who police say was found with 1,184 cartons of untaxed cigarettes worth about $70,000.

Laurel Police Officer First Class Christopher Story says 22-year-old Waael Alsaeidi of East Elmhurst, New York, was stopped Monday in a pickup truck for traffic violations.

During the investigation, officers say they found Alsaeidi the cartons of cigarettes and arrested him on site.

He has been charged with 39 counts of possession of untaxed tobacco products where tax has not been paid, in addition to the traffic violation. The cigarettes were seized as evidence.

Alsaeidi is being held in default of a $5,000 secured bond.

It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney to comment on the charges.
