BURGETTSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A southwestern Pennsylvania man has died after being burned in an explosion while working at an automotive business.

Hanover Township police Chief Stan Henry says 45-year-old Gary Myers was working on a boat outside the garage of Myers Auto Service when something exploded about 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Myers was badly burned and taken by his family to Weirton Medical Center in West Virginia, before he was flown to West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. The Allegheny County medical examiner says that’s where he died shortly before 9:30 a.m.

Township police didn’t immediately return a call for comment.

Authorities were continuing to investigate the cause of the explosion.

The business is located about 30 miles west of Pittsburgh, but only about seven miles from Weirton.
