WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) - Officials say an Amtrak Vermonter train struck a fallen tree on the tracks, causing some passengers to be rerouted on buses to Springfield, Massachusetts.

It happened at about 10 p.m. Monday. Officials say the tree fell on tracks north of White River Junction and caused the train to sustain mechanical problems.

The train had 72 passengers and minimal damage. No injuries were reported.

The service didn’t run on Tuesday but Amtrak officials say regular service is expected to be restored Wednesday.

The Vermonter runs between St. Albans and Washington.
